Spray Tans are not all equal. I had the same orange experience and vowed I would never do it again. I tried the booth type tans and the kind where a person does it on you. Long after I had given up my friend got spray tanned and it looked gorgeous. It was shocking because she is more fair than I am. I went to the salon where she had it done and I got an education from the woman who sprayed me. She says she uses a product called Fantasy Tan and that it is the original and to beware of other products. They are unproven spin off type products. She explained the reason I was orange was that most likely the product that was used on me was not the right match for my skin. She said instead of using one solution for everyone she has the ability to customize a specific color to match my fair skin. Also she showed me that she was certified and trained by a professional in the art of airbrush tanning. It turns out some salons buy inexpensive tanning systems and learn trial and error from a DVD video. (That makes me wonder if the first experience I had, was I a guinea pig?) I was still skeptical. I have heard great sales pitches before. I was sold. I gave it a try. All I could say is WOW! I can't believe how different my experience was. The whole time she sprayed me we had a great conversation about our kids. It was actually quiet. All the other places I had been the tanning sessions were so noisy. This Fantasy machine hardly made much noise. I remember thinking that the other machines sounded like my husbands heavy duty garage vacuum cleaner. It was nice to be able to talk and not have to shout over the noise. She sprayed me from top to bottom and then did some sculpturing to give me some more tone. Ha! I could use it! When I looked in the mirror I was speechless! the tan was so beautiful. It looked like a real sun tan. This woman was good she up-sold me on some skin care products to help maintain my tan. The tan lasted about 8 days and it faded beautifully. Needless to say, I am now hooked on spray fantasy tanning.

honestly i can tell every person that has a spray tan. their hands are always orange and they have this weird odar. i am extremely pale myself and when i was younger i always went tanning but then one day i hit me why should i have to be tan, that is not who i am. back in the old days the whiter you were, that symbolized your power because people knew you didn't work in the fields.
References :
spray tanning is a good and idea and u have made a good choice by not going for the sunbedas they can cause skin cancer the only thing i will say is that with spray anning you can go 2 dark at once and it is reali obvious what i would suggest is perhaps the johnsons or anyother make of gradual tan sun cream that slightly tans u gradually is all you have 2 do is apply the cream like normal at night and then in the morning when youhave your shower it will wash off any excess cream that is not needed tanning does look realistic but agan it dpends on how dark you go and also on ur hands it can fo funny and sometimes you can be left with streaks so be careful and good luck
References :
First of all, good call with the tanning beds. Secondly, my roommate showed me pictures from her prom last year, and I asked her why she looked so orange in all of them and she said, yeah, don't ever go spray tanning.
References :
my sophomore year of high school (i'm a senior now) i wanted to go tanning before homecoming. my dad didnt want me to go tanning in the beds because he thought i was too young, so he told me i could get a spray tan. they told me to put this lotion on my hands, feet and fingernails, so i did. i did the whole spray thing and i didnt like it very much. the whole process was a little weird. the next day, i checked to see if i looked any darker. i looked a little darker, but you could definitely see where the lotion had been on my hands, and there was practically a line on my wrist between my hand and arm. thankfully, i went again before the dance and didnt put lotion on my hands. this is only from personal experience, but if you dont put lotion all over your hands you should be fine.
References :
personal experience

I haven't done it myself, but the friends of mine who have love it and I thought it looked really good. It does depend on your skin tone what color you come out. Good for you for giving up the tanning bed. I worked in a dermatology clinic for 3 years and will NEVER tan again!! I used to live at the tan salons, and worship the sun. I am darker complected and never burn, but I saw too many YOUNG people with melanoma, I am talking in their 20's!!! Stay safe - give it a try!!
