Do cheaper tanning lotions work just as well as the ones you buy at the salon?
Posted by Sonni in: buy a tanning salonI used to buy my lotion from Wal-Mart. It’s been a few years since I’ve tanned though and I’m not sure about what’s out there now. I’ve already got a really good base tan and I’ve upgraded my tanning package so that I can use the stronger beds.I’ve been buying my lotion from the tanning salon, but $40-$60 for a bottle of lotion is crazy! I’m just curious if the stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart or other retail places works just as well? Does anyone out there use a cheaper lotion and get great results?
yes cheaper work just as good if not better!!

Tanning Salon Gold

I used to work at a tanning salon and I’ll say this: you get what you pay for. I had some extra money and spent it on a 35 dollar bottle of tanning lotion and it worked so well. Then as backup I went to Wal-mart and got something similar to the other one, but it was awful. The cheaper brand made my skin itch too. I hope that helps you.

Simple answer… no! The more you spend the better it gets unfortumately. Have a look on ebay for the San Tropez stuff, I can gurantee you can get it cheaper than in the shops and you’ll get just as good results at home cos all they do in the salon is slap it on and tell you to leave it there. Then you’ve gotta get home covered in goop!
Don’t go on the sunbeds, you can tell when someone goes on loads, they’ve got kind of an orangey glow to them. If you’re tan looks like this you can get some nice bronzer to make it look a bit better. Also good if you’ve got burned a bit and your’e a bit pink.. a lifesaver on a night out!

Nivea, Garnier & Johnsons do some…. be careful of the Johnson’s one for medium skin though because it’s actually orange.

Body lotions with tanning agents are all the rage in the UK at the moment. I bought a lotion which was at the top end of the market at £5.99. The bottle would only last me a week, so I had to switch to something cheaper. I found a bottle for £1.49 and you know it lasts longer, doesn’t streak and tans ten times better. So hell yeah, go for the cheaper lotion.
