I am interested in buying a tanning salon. What ?s should I ask before buying? ?
Posted by Sonni in: buy a tanning salonI already own a small day spa with the intention of adding body wraps in the spring and the salon was just offered to me. I am extremely interested just want to do things right.
I guess I should have been more specific. I need to know what questions to ask about the beds. I have already requested the model and serial #'s and bulb info.
I have all these answers….I need to know specifically what mechanical questions to ask. Thanks to all.
The only question is “Will the owner show you her income tax returns for the last 3 years?”. Then you will know exactly what you are buying. All the rest of the stuff is just fluff..

Get an accountant to go over the books and make sure the place is making money. A good accountant will also give you an decent price range to offer for the place.
Also, check on the lease (make sure it is transferable and for how long), check all the licenses and inspections, make sure the place is up to code. Also, check the age of the tanning beds, call the company that makes them and ask how long the expected life of the bed is (you don’t want to buy something that is expected to break down in a year or two).
Think about how you run your business and what you need to know to do that and the questions should be the same.
