The tanning lotion you buy at a tanning salon, can it be used to help you tan outside in the sun?

Ive used it before, and honestly. I don’t think It did the same thing. They say it works outside too, but I think they are wrong.
I used my favorite tanning lotion when I was tanning outside for a couple of hours, and got no darker than if I went out there with nothing. And yet, when i use it in the tanning salon, I get REALLY dark in 15minutes.
Give yours a try, But i don’t think it really works.
