Thu

I have been tanning for a few years now and I am a member of a reputable tanning salon. However, staff changes so often that I never get the same answer twice. How long should I use a Step 1? Any advice on a really good age defying Step 1 as well as a triple bronzer? I tan easily but since it is the middle of winter, my legs are ghastly white!
Thanks!

Hi,

It’s hard to get good advice in this area because it depends on your skin type. But I can tell you that California Tan has some of the best anti aging indoor tanning lotions on the market. They don’t look as cool as Designer Skin (and they are good to), but you can go wrong. For example, California Tan X Speed Step 1 is a very good choice.

How long? 3 weeks to play it safe. Less if you tan super easy. BUT it also depends on if you are using low level tanning beds, high level tanning beds (intensity), or a high pressure tanning bed. Because if you go in a high pressure tanning bed, you don’t have to go as often and you tan easier, and it tans deeper.

So, if you tan in a high pressure bed (highly recommended because they are usually 100% UVA), then your time frame shortens, assuming you tan fairly often (2-3 time per week). But, you’ll find that 2-3 times per week in a high pressure bed is more than enough to get you super tan.

Stay away from the low level cheap beds as much as possible, or at least mix it up with a high pressure bed. Low level, cheap beds have lots of UVB)

I am on the fence about the step on and step two thing. It’s really good marketing. But it doesn’t hurt to follow along. I found some good articles for you too…
