Is it a good idea for a black person to do spray tanning?
Posted by Sonni in: spray tanningI have a dark caramel complexion I also have stretch marks and my legs are two completely different shades. One shade is my natural complexion and the other is five shades darker, it is definitely noticeable. I’ve seen a dermatologist and they say there is nothing that can make it go away. I’ve tried the lotions and stuff to even it out but it doesn’t work is it a good idea to try spray tanning, to just get an overall one color all over?
While it is not known why, many people have found that massaging cocoa butter into skin areas affected by stretch marks can help reduce the appearance of the scars. This works particularly well for individuals with darker skin tones. A suggested remedy is to massage cocoa butter over the stretch marks once a day. The stretch marks should begin to appear lighter in about a month.
Researchers speculate that the massaging of scarred areas helps stimulate blood flow and distributes collagen evenly in the affected areas. Collagen is a protein responsible for skin strength and elasticity.

You won’t tan evenly. Your stretch marks won’t pick up as much pigment as the rest of your skin, and it will actually look even more uneven.

i work at a tanning salon and personally, have never seen a spray tan do much for stretch marks. I have them too unfortunately :-p. But I do find that actual tanning helps to even out the skin tone and make them tons less noticeable. you don’t have to go for a lengthy amount of time, especially since you are already dark haha but if you went for just about 8-10 minutes every other day or even every 2 days, with the help of a tanning lotion (never go without since it dries your skin), then you should see some results by the end of the week. good luck!
