I generally burn then tan but I have built up a base tan (just not a very dark one) and I don’t burn while tanning now. I want to get kind of dark for my graduation in June, so how do I maximize my tan? Should I always moisturize afterwards? Use a tan accelerating lotion? Thanks!

I tan the same way, but I go to the beds alot. If you want to get dark , you pretty much need to start now. You will get the deepest tan if you do a longer timed bed and over a longer amount of time. For example, go in a 15-20 minute vhr bed for months before your event, instead of the fast high power cyclone a couple weeks before. If you get a quick tan it’s probably superficial tan, and will fade quick. I always moisturize, the most important times are after the shower and after tanning. I always use an accelerator. There are so many different kinds. I use one with a tingler, which makes you really hot and red right after your done but the redness goes away in a couple hours. It takes getting used to, but it works a lot better than anything else I’ve ever tried. My favorite is called Mayhem by California Tan, and you can get it cheaper online. There are many discount sites, just google tanning accelerator discount and sift thru them. I’ve dealt with the tanning lotion outlet before, they were good. E-bay is good to. Just remember, if you get a tingler you might not be able to stay in as long at 1st & don’t put it on your face! I use a light layer now, but don’t ever go near your eyes or lips! my man did it and it was hilarious! he was hurtin! bring baby wipes and clean your hands right after b/c it has a triple bronzer and will stain in between your fingers & in your nails. Other lotions I’ve tried are by designer skin. spellbound and fourtune didn’t do a thing, neurotic was ok, and I haven’t tried Rock star but I’ve been told it was real good. try some samples at the salon before you buy, and try not to buy there. They charge double! And don’t shower for altleast 4hrs after! It sucks but, the shower washes away oils your skin needs to develop the tan. Make sure to wash off your makeup and moisturizer before you tan, most have an spf 15. I can’t think of anything else. good luck. wear goggles! (rotate them) and rotate while your in there! Congrats!

Whatever you do, don’t use oil if in a tanning booth. You should ALWAYS moisturize before (with either a regular moisturizer) or the lotions they sell at the salon. I would also put on lotion after you shower to help extend your tan.

When you are in the booth, if the bulbs don’t go all the way around, make sure you spin every once in a while to make sure its even. Also, if in the booth, your shoulders won’t tan as well, so try to move them every few sessions or go in a regular bed occasionally.
