Application of tanning bed lotions are usually an hour before every tanning session and immediately after each session. Tanning bed lotion acts as a protection for your skin reducing damage and helps in the acceleration of the tanning process.
Some vital ingredients in the tanning bed lotions such as tyrosine are used to induce stimulation of melanin production. Tyrosine is an amino acid that stimulates production of the skins pigmentation agent melanin. Tyrosine works together with UVB rays in stimulating more melanin production which after the oxidization of UVA rays, would produce the desired beach tanned colored skin.
Vast majority’s of tanning bed lotions comes with a plus of Vitamin E. Vitamin E has an anti-oxidant effect, anti-oxidants are harmful particles that attacks our skin resulting in wrinkle and bad complexion usually more visible on the face. Tyrosine and Vitamin E in tanning bed lotions acts as a prevention for these kinds of damaging effects of tanning.
Copper is also another bonus in many tanning bed lotions. Copper which acts as a healing property reduces the visibility of scars and other minor blemishes which you could have gotten it from over tanning. Copper through some research and surveys happen to assists tyrosine in the production of some important brain chemicals. Mild euphoria can be experienced by regular tanners although research for anti-depressive applications is still in progress in the tanning industry till today.
All tanning bed lotions have moisturizers in them, these ingredients acts as magnifiers for the effects of tanning resulting from the UVA rays. The moisturizing elements in tanning bed lotions are also used to counteract the dry peeling after effect of the UVB rays.
That’s not all folks; it gets better over here, almost all major leading tanning bed lotion brands contain hempseed oil and Aloe Vera, ingredients that replenishes your skin with nutrients guarding them in the process from the relentless damaging of the natural environment whether if it’s rural or urban.
Tanning bed lotions can be used for many different purposes, they are formulated in a way to meet a lot of today’s demanding market. Some are used as “tan accelerators” that comes with ingredients to amplify the effects of the tyrosine. Others are mainly used as after-tan’s to replenish lost moisture and an added protection.
In this competitive tanning bed lotion industry, more and more idea’s are cook up to attract more clients and customers. They even come with scent ranging to thousands of wide range variety. Are you a coffee addict??? Think latte??? Hungry for lime pie??? Better yet there’s everybody’s favorite “chocolate”, which goes really well with your new tanned skin (care to lick me??? how sexy could you get). The customers demand it, the manufacturers produces it. Tanning Lotions?
I would like to start getting tan. I don’t use tanning beds instead I use lotions or sprays. When I use the lotions I get uneven color. My question is if I mix tanning lotion with regular lotion will I get more even tan? I want it to take longer than the usual week because I think (I might be wrong) if I don’t get as dark as quickly I will be able to cover spots I missed before. I hope this makes sense. Thanks.
I tried the spray tanning booths like Mystic Tan. It does look great. But I’m terrified of the machine. A little pathetic I know.
When you mix it with regular lotion it doesn’t really work. The best way to take it slow is to just apply it really lightly. The best way to goif you have an extra 15-40 dollars is to go to a tanning salon that has spray tans. They are really easy and they look great. You can even get your cleavage and abs defined with a spray tan.

Try the Jergens for light skin formula…put it on everyday after your shower after 4 days you will have a nice even glow…If you want it a bit darker do it the 5th day and if not just do it once a week after that to mantain it…Its cheap too!…Like 5 or 6 bucks!

Spend lots of time and blend like crazy…I’ve never had any missed spots….But I only do my legs…the rest of me darkens up naturally.
I have used all kinds of self-tanners for the past few years trying to stay out of the sun. Different things affect how the color adheres to your skin….hormones, dry/rough patches, etc. A week is about the longest you’ll get out of a lotion but you CAN prolong the life of the tan by staying moisturized with regular lotion on days you dont self-tan and keeping exfoliating to a minimum(shaving, using a scrub/body puff, etc). I wouldnt mix regular and self-tanning lotion. If you want a gradual tan use a lotion made just for that such as Gradual Tan by Coppertone, Neutrogena and Jergens both have lotions for that. Mixing leaves you open to even more uneven patches.
I currently use the Bath and Body Works tanning lotion. It looks really good. L’Oreal Sublime Bronze is good because its tinted so you can see where you put it. The self-tanning lotions you can get in the drup store are really good. The key is rubbing it good and when you rub keep your fingers together.
Tips when you self-tan…
Exfoliate..shave your legs and use a body scrub on your elbows, face, etc.
Wash your hands as you go
Start with your legs, then arms, then torso so you dont get stripes on your belly from bending over, then face(with a self-tanner for face).
When you’re done and wash your hands put some on a cotton ball and carefully apply to tops of hands(not putting too much on knuckles).
Let dry and enjoy!

honestly……………………..just go tanning. It is really easy and it is super relaxing. I love it. I fyou are totally against it then go to a professional salon and get MysticTan. It is a spray but it professionally done and it works great. but shave the day that you get it because when you shave it takes off some ofthe color, and be carefull because it stains.
