Major issue with spray tanning!!?
Posted by Sonni in: tanning salon ownerI’m very fair skinned and burn instead of tan. I’ve tried pretty much every sunless tanner out there with bad results. Then I found Spray Tan of America. I was finally able to get a nice, even, bronze tan instead of looking orange and streaky. Being airbrushed by an actual person makes a huge difference. But here’s my problem: the tan doesn’t last like I was told it would. The owner of the salon told me that I should only have to tan every 7-8 days. I think for me it’s more like every 4. I use the tan accelerator that they sell there. It’s called "Conquer" and I love the way it makes my skin feel. My skin has never felt so soft. It’s supposed to have DHA in it also, to make the tan last longer, but if it does, it’s not very much. Because even though I use it and my skin feels great, I still get that flaky look within 3 or 4 days. And the tan fades too. I exfoliate before I tan. I moisturize with the extender 1-2 times/day. Does anyone have experience with it? What am I doing wrong?
I don’t use an abrasive puff when I shower. Just moisturizing body wash on my hand or a washcloth. I quit using the puff when I started tanning. The only time I use a loofah is right before I go tan to exfoliate.
I’m sorry but there is not much you should do I don’t think you should shower until 8 hours after getting the tan that helps.
I use Fake Bake lotion from sephora 25.00 it rocks!!! you use it times to get a base tan then after use it 2 a weak and it is streak free. You need very little. Always were gloves!!! You sleep in it and take a shower in the morning. I swear by this stuff I absolute love it but do NOT use the foam version it sucks and leaves streaks the lotion rocks.

It doesn’t sound like your doing anything wrong. Certain body chemistry’s do not hold spray tans as long as others. I only use EnvyTan products so I will list a couple you should try. They have an tan extender called Body Armor. It has a small amount of DHA in it so it should help prolong the life of your tan. Additionally, you should be using a DHA friendly body wash like Bodyguard, as it is made specifically for individuals who spray tan. The other thing you might want to try is changing the sunless tanner you are using. EnvyTan has two, “Confidential” which is a lotion and “Lasting Envy: Spray Tan In A Can”. At this point it can’t hurt you to look around and try something new. Every persons skin is different which is why there is not one spray tanning or self tanner that everyone can use, or everyone loves.
