Tanning bed help?!?
Posted by Sonni in: tanning salon ownerI tanned for the first time this year day before yesterday for 15 mins. and then yesterday for 20 mins. I don’t usually burn from tanning beds, but I am trying to tan as much as I can before my friend’s wedding next Saturday (the 19th – I am a bridesmaid, and it’s a beach wedding, that’s why i want to tan as much as I can). Well yesterday, the glass on the bottom of the bed got so HOT that it actually hurt. I have never experienced this before, and I have tanned plenty. I got really red last night on my back, back of my arms, back of my legs and butt. Is this normal? Should I not tan today, even if it is for 10 mins only? Should i tell the owner of the tanning salon about the hot bed??
Please no answers about tanning gives you cancer, etc…I am only going a few times.
No you should wait until the redness goes away. I know that is probally not whay you wanted to hear but if you go back it will cause you to burn really bad. They probally just put new bulbs in the bed. Next time you go ask the attendant when they changed the bulbs and pick one that does not have new ones.

Your skin is sensitive and even 10 minutes is too long. The bulbs could be new, or the bed itself could be new. I would definitely NOT tan today. You don’t want to show up to the wedding looking like you just stepped out of a tanning bed. It’s fake looking and not to mention you’d be burnt and uncomfortable. I would use some self-tanning lotion to finish off what you started in the tanning bed so you can avoid looking foolish at the wedding.

I think that you should not go tanning today because even one appointment w/ a tanning bed can give you skin cancer. I think you should get a spray tan or build up your tan by mixing your moisturizer and self tanner lotion. You should definately tell the owner about the hot bed, before it burns someone else.
